The Mono-izer Project

Here's a very basic DIY project that will let you combine left and right channels for recording from mono vinyl or shellac or listening to marginal FM or for whatever other reason you may find for doing so.

It's an easy job.  Just get Radio Shack's board with four phono jacks, 274-322, or a similar four jack array.  Connect all four center contacts together with one wire and connect all four ground lugs together with another.  Sokder all connections.

That's it.

Now for a mono-ized feed, plug the input Left and Right into any two of the four jacks and the output Left and Right into the other two.  It doesn't really matter which goes where since they're all being tied together.
